Cutout Village isn’t cut from the same mold as other City Builders on PC, it has a clear identity. Many months ago a trailer released showing us some amazing art along with the gameplay of this new and curious title. Unlike every other City Builder that seems focused on a top down perspective and plays quite similar to Stardew Valley, Cutout Village happens to make something more original. Each time you build a City or something at all, you have to do arts and crafts such as cutting, folding, and sticking paper together. You could say this is the Paper Mario of City Builders.
Cutout Village releases in 2026
They still didn’t give an specific date as to when this game will come out but considering the page is up on Steam, we can rest assured that 2026 will be the year it releases. Maybe it will be some months from now on, or maybe it will be at the end of the year. I feel like something of this caliber takes a ton of work to make and depending on the skill level of the people it might come out earlier or later. Regardless, a game that releases broken can never really be fixed reputation wise, unless you are the creators of Cyberpunk 2077.
Hopefully DevilishGames takes their time crafting something unique that appeals to many, bringing yet another amazing indie title to the table that is clearly made with love. The game will be narrative driven and also very cozy, so if you are expecting something more action oriented perhaps you should seek something else. I feel like this game will have some appeal to fans of the Animal Crossing series thanks to the animal theming behind it but since there’s no demo available yet I can’t say for sure how everything will play out in Cutout Village, give it a wishlist space if you are interested.
