Highguard made Linux users quite angry by announcing that the game won’t support the operating system. This is due to the fact that we have to deal with Easy AntiCheat and other methods that will prevent us from enjoying a safe gaming experience. Secure Boot is also a feature that most Windows systems of the modern days decide to use for some inexplicable reason. Regardless of what one might say about this Highguard is dead in the water already, and nobody seems to care despite releasing in some hours, the game seems to be another Concord situation repeat.
Highguard in today’s market
It is crazy that a game like this is coming out in 2026, a year where we already established that the vast majority of people is just tired of live service games and demand quality story driven single player experiences. It took a while but people are beginning to realize that perhaps the games that are better are those that you can play without an internet connection and also don’t expand constantly. There’s no such thing as a forever game, and to aim for one to exist is a rather unhealthy thing to accomplish because people need to be exposed to different things.
The Linux user base keeps growing with each passing day, more and more people are starting to realize that using a system that benefits them is better than a system that is old and outdated like Microsoft’s Windows. The fact that Highguard won’t respect the safety of players is enough reason as to why people shouldn’t even play this one. If you are already playing Overwatch or other titles such as Valve’s newest release, Deadlock, then there’s really not much of a reason to engage in more of the same unless you like wasting your time. Highguard’s lack of security should be taken into account.
