Groove Defense is a very cool PC game, as a matter of fact you can even try out a demo here on Itch.io, as a true indie game Groove Defense really shines with some interesting ideas and execution and while the game is still being planned and updated as we speak the foundations are very solid. Hopefully this game releases in the near future, as there’s really no proper release date for it so far, but I feel it might be coming in 2026 considering it does look like a final build in a way. While balancing can be a hard thing to do I’m very sure that the developer behind it will succeed.
Groove Defense is groovy
It all started with the developer being curious of mixing his passion for music making with tower defense games, giving the opportunity of players to remix the tracks depending on how they built their own strategy. Each time you place one of your towers it represents a different instrument, and this completely transforms how each track plays out. This is a very creative concept and trying to tie everything to music is a very complex task to accomplish, games like Crypt of The Necrodancer had done it in the past but its not common to see.
Groove Defense will have different genres to bop to while you build your deadly traps to zap every monster that appears, but you have to be very careful while doing so. Enemies also adapt to the music and move to the beat, and perhaps some strategies might make them harder than others, it is on you to try and find the right one to tackle each wave of enemies, before you get to meet your funky demise. If you are interested in helping the developers, you can sign a Google Form on Itch.io, and you can also wishlist this on Steam.
