Highguard didn’t make anyone interested, every single PC gamer booed at it when it first got revealed at the previous Game Awards ceremony of 2025. Nobody wanted more live service games because they are now a fad and you can only play so many of them without getting tired of doing so, these games are a chore. All of them rely on grinding and not even having fun while doing so, they want you to get hooked into battle passes or other subscription models so you can get some virtual polygons in your screen that looks different, Highguard seems to be more of the same.
Highguard is missing
Surprisingly after the main event, there hasn’t been any proper info about the game whatsoever, many allude to the fact that this might be yet another Concord situation, since that game got also booed into oblivion causing a massive monetary loss for Sony. People are tired and they are making themselves heard, we all know that the only good reveal at The Game Awards was Mega Man Dual Override and its Robot Master design contest. People want more single player games made with love by people who appreciate the medium, it is very simple.
Stuff today is treated as content, and this new term arose rather recently, feeling more like an insult whenever someone makes art. Art isn’t content, since the majority of content out there is often low quality things made to please algorithms. We as gamers need to demand for more, ensure that the people behind making games isn’t getting replaced, and always being picky with the quality of things that come out. This is what differentiates customers from consumers, and clearly Highguard is a game made with consumers in mind rather than real gamers. If you are tired of live service games, make yourself heard and don’t play them.
