Persona 6 Not in Hell of Development; Persona 4 Revival Launched to Tose Software

A long-awaited report by established industry insider NateTheHate sheds light on the current status of the major future projects of Atlus, especially the well-anticipated Persona 6, which they confirm is not currently suffering from development hell. This comes with years of silence from the publisher, which had led some fans to believe that there were internal struggles since the project was first acknowledged in 2021. The latest statement seeks to assure the community that the sequel to Persona 5, the global success, is still being worked on. While previous rumors about a 2024 release window now seem improbable, internal development is thought to be proceeding as planned.

More intel from the same source reveals the status of the Persona 4 Revival remake announced at the recent Xbox Games Showcase. The insider explains that important feature of this project is that it has not been brought into the in-house development of Atlus, but has been outsourced to Tose Software. It is a large firm based in Kyoto, known in its extravagance to the whole world for its large outsourcing role in the industry of video games. Tose has a story span of decades and has recently been been stated as a major customer for both Atlus and Square Enix, showing its capability to back large titles.

While the decision to outsource most of the remaking of Persona 4 Revival is quite striking, it suggests that the final strategic decision is now clearly made with Atlus. The remake was handed over to Tose, meaning that P-Studio (aka the former Creative Department 2nd Production) is, as expected, directing all parts of its resources solely toward creating the Persona 6 experience. This lessens worries that the remake will take essential personnel away from the main numbered sequel, which has been in development since at least 2021.

This is, of course, a strategic split that raises an interesting possibility given that Persona 4 Revival was announced without any kind of release window, meaning that it is undoubtedly quite a ways from finishing. In theory, as focused work continues on Persona 6 that has not yet been officially announced, this new sequel might still beat the announced remake to market. With the Persona franchise approaching its 30th anniversary in September 2026, the industry sits closely awaiting Atlus to finalize delivering real information on its flag-bearing JRPG.

Playground Games Confirms 15-to-20 Hour Campaign for Fable Reboot Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature a mainline story lasting between 15 and 20 hours. Speaking during a group press session at Gamescom 2026, associate game director Will Kennedy outlined the scope of the project, stating that the central questline is paired with a similar 15-to-20-hour block of side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond authored content, the developers emphasized that the title’s simulation and life systems allow for indefinite play depending on player investment. Full coverage of the interview context can be found in Polygon’s developer Q&A. This targeted duration keeps the reboot in line with the structure of Lionhead Studios' original trilogy rather than the massive scale of modern role-playing games. The 2004 original averaged roughly 12.5 hours for its main path, while Fable II and Fable III clocked in at approximately 13 and 13.5 hours respectively. By keeping the core path concise, Playground Games appears focused on density and narrative pacing rather than padding out the experience with mandatory filler. Community reception to the announcement has leaned positive, particularly among veteran players who prefer tightly structured campaigns over 100-hour commitments. As discussed in a active Reddit community thread, many players welcomed the focused runtime, noting that the series' signature alignment shifts and choice-driven paths naturally encourage multiple playthroughs. The game’s optional activities will include property ownership, local employment, and dynamic NPC interactions, extending gameplay well past the main story credits. Following previous delays, Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
