Team Fortress 2 is on that time of the year again, Smissmas came to the game and this update brings with it about the same things we expected that would come. More cosmetics and some free gifts for people still playing the game are nice, but it would be even better if we could get an update that makes Mann vs Machine more accessible to everyone. Locking it behind a paywall is rather sad and outdated, perhaps this Smissmas season should come with something like some free time to try out this popular mode.
Team Fortress 2 celebrates Smissmas
As always, for people logging into the game, you will get a Gift Stuffed Sock filled with valuable yet untradeable items. This is usually a name tag, a description tag, some weapons, a can of paint from a random color, and a festive skin. None of this bulk can be traded which means they don’t really have any value in the economy of the game. Regardless, these are free cosmetics for everyone, although it would be nice there was a guaranteed slot for a hat, Valve needs to be less stingy with this sort of thing, we used to get free Mann vs Machine tickets.
Team Fortress 2 decades of legacy, and the community seems to still be going strong despite the current state of the game. Valve has announced there is some plans for it but after open sourcing it, people have lost faith on anything big happening to the game. While I think Valve can do the big changes that the game needs each time they tried they weren’t received with much love by the community. Perhaps it is time that we take matters into our own hands and find a way to do what we want with this amazing gift of a game that Team Fortress 2 is.
