Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware have pushed out a major update for Elden Ring Nightreign, officially revealing the 1.03 patch notes that prepare the live-service title for its upcoming expansion, The Forsaken Hollows. First announced just weeks ago during Sony’s State of Play Japan broadcast, this new DLC is set to go live on December 4.
The Forsaken Hollows is positioned to deliver a significant amount of content, answering demands from the community for greater variety in gameplay options. Players will gain entry to two new Nightfarers-The Scholar and The Undertaker-which could bring in entirely different styles of play for expeditions. Along with these, it launches two new boss fights to continue the high bar for difficulty and introduces a new environment called the Shifting Earth, replete with new enemy types and POIs.
Beyond supporting the DLC, the core patch itself introduces several key quality-of-life enhancements and important bug fixes. A big functionality improvement for character management allows players to directly see their equipped Relics in the Character Selection menu, improving loadout transparency. Additionally, the update adds the ability for players to name their Relic presets when preparing builds within the Relic Rites menu, streamlining how to identify between complex builds.
A couple of significant changes for co-op play include the fact that players can now join Expeditions even when their Personal Objectives-in particular, those that require the defeat of a target while Reliving a Remembrance-do not match up. This should make forming groups easier. The developers also fixed a critical bug where certain effects that healed or buffed allies would not take effect on a character while they were dodging or using their Ultimate Art, which helps to ensure that combat support operates as it should.
Moreover, there are various balance adjustments included in Version 1.03. Many Passive Effects and Relic Effects, connected with the execution of combat maneuvers like Jump Attacks and Guard Counters, have been generally increased in power. At the same time, trigger conditions have been widened for low-HP effects like the Blue-Feathered Branchsword, while their overall efficacy was reduced. These changes signal a continued commitment to refining the meta of Elden Ring Nightreign, as it continues to build out its content footprint.
