Soulframe is coming soon to PC, and it looks quite good for a game that is pretty much medieval Warframe. This game comes from the hands of the same developers, and from the looks of it, it seems that this will be a successor to the popular Warframe live service. As always, players need to be wary about the fact that this is a live service, unless the developers behind it don’t provide some sort of ability to host the game yourself, it can die any time. It should be a rule to try and preserve games like this via the ability to host your own servers.
Soulframe looks interesting
Soulframe is set to be more of what we know and love, but it seems it will have a more fantasy oriented approach that Warframe didn’t have in the past. For fans of the fantasy genre and live service games, this might be the game for you, but we still have to wait for it. It is safe to say the game might have the same monetization practices of Warframe, since it comes from the same studio, and those are regarded as one of the best monetization practices in gaming by many. However, I would prefer the emphasis was mostly on cosmetics rather than time gating content in the game, as it is rather cruel to have players waiting.
Soulframe can be one of the best live services of 2026, if it releases in that year of course, but it needs to meet certain requirements to keep everyone happy. I do not believe the company behind it is greedy, but with all the cash they took from Warframe, maybe they should try and relax a bit with monetization practices in Soulframe. There’s a ton of things to do to make this game amazing, and making it fair for everyone should be an essential thing to plan.
