Steam Machine is going to destroy most gaming PC’s in the market, it seems that Valve has decided to finally finish off Microsoft by announcing something very strong. Consoles are slowly becoming obsolete, as the list of exclusives becomes smaller by the day, there’s no stopping this. Consoles used to be very cool because most of the things done for them were tied to hardware restrictions that made each one unique. You were either a Sega kid, or a Nintendo kid, each system had some big differences and plenty of exclusives that were worth to play. Nowadays, every game is in every system, aside form some exceptions.
Steam Machine will solve PC gaming
The Steam Machine aims to be an entry point, or at least that’s what some people believe it might be. Valve on the other hand seems more focused on surpassing current gaming PCs by having something in a smaller form factor. The latest hardware reveal by Valve points towards a very interesting future for gaming, albeit a rather worrisome one in a way. Valve does hold a monopoly on the PC gaming industry, and it seems that things will quickly move in their favor if no other giant tries to rival them.
Markets need some sort of balance, and people are the ones that make the corrections to help keep things smooth. However, as wealth concentrates on Valve, even Microsoft is kneeling and offering Xbox as a sacrifice to satisfy the ancient beast of PC gaming. Whatever the future might hold, we can only hope that the only new thing is some sort of focus on VR technology and nothing more. VR does provide the possibility for some very interesting experiences provided developers can make something new with it. Pushing usual games into VR does not cut it, we need something new with it, and the Steam Machine will be powerful enough for it.
