Blizzard Entertainment has just announced Cyber Fuel Junkrat as the newest Mythic skin for Overwatch 2, taking what was a significant leap in terms of seasonal content for the game. This is now available in the Mythic Shop with the midseason update for Season 19, but what makes this skin exceptional is not only its design but the novelty of having a season line up with two premier Mythic hero skins-for the first time since Divine Druid Lifeweaver was launched. This unique release provides the cleanup artist with a cyberpunk makeover that turns him into a neon-drenched figure, complete with futuristic sound and visual elements.
It places Junkrat squarely into a dystopian sci-fi context-not the least in terms of sharing some aesthetic choices with titles such as Cyberpunk 2077. This skin features bright, vivid spraypainted motifs and high-tech gear in keeping with future-oriented themes that permeate the rest of Overwatch 2’s lore as well. What made the Cyber Fuel skin more appealing to this extent was the variety with which the player will be able to customize it, as it progressively unfolds in all four tiers. The first tier promises to provide the basic skin and its accompanying effects whereas the next yields personalized possessions.
Tier two grants their choice of three different RIP-Tire designs, each giving an interesting visual variety with regard to the character’s ultimate. Progressing onto tier three grants the character three separate color palettes-red, blue, and the default green-further pertaining to personalization. The final, fourth tier unlocks the most spectacular part of the skin: transformative visual effects (VFX) that can be toggled on/off to radically change how it looks, such as turning the skin to this smear of vibrant purple and swapping Junkrat’s facial features for one that is stylized in a holographic skull-esque mask, which elevates the cosmetic quotient above previous Mythics.
In this case, one would have to spend 80 Mythic Prisms to collect that complete set of Cyber Fuel Junkrat skins-the same as from a single seasonal Mythic. Having a second, high-stakes item available is surely a boon for fans but renews the crush on what players can budget this season. With only 80 Mythic Prisms obtainable via the Premium Battle Pass each season, those interested in this skin, the Divine Druid Lifeweaver, and the Spirit Keeper Kiriko Mythic weapon skin released at the same time are looking at a combined value of 240 Prisms. The concentration of premier cosmetics into a single season puts into the tightest possible budgetary choices for all players, possibly establishing a new and more stringent standard for acquiring seasonal Mythic content.
