The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is confirmed to have a post-campaign, open world based multiplayer mode named Endgame which players will be able to unlock after completing the single player story. You can view all the details of the new Endgame mode in the official blog post for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 which gives a nice rundown of everything you can expect in the new multiplayer mode that also features an open world which is relatively new in the series.
The mode will be unlocked after finishing the 11 main missions in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7‘s single player campaign and will have you team up with three other players and tackle a series of objectives in an island named Avalon. The Endgame mode will allow up to 32 players in total on a single map that’s divided into four sections with each having different recommended levels. Players will be able to choose between four operator classes with unique customizable loadouts and your progress in the mode will also further your overall rank in Black Ops 7 which enables a unified multiplayer experience across all modes.
An open world based multiplayer experience has been done before in the series with 2023’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 but with mixed results and it seems the devs are bringing it all back with a vastly different flavor of gameplay that aims to elevate the overall experience in more ways than one. And it’ll definitely be interesting to see how the new mode does against the more fan-favorite modes such as Zombies and more, and how much it impacts the overall Call of Duty mold.
One of the biggest complaints regarding the Call of Duty franchise is that it has gotten stale and repetitive over the years but now it genuinely seems that the series is stretching it’s legs and pushing it’s own boundaries in unique ways. And now that Battlefield 6 has proven itself as a worthy challenger to the once unrivaled Call of Duty, there’s no other option but for the series to fire on all cylinders which in turn can only result in a much greater and refreshingly different game from the earlier titles and a potential rejuvenation for the entire franchise.
