Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is set to arrive on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 next week and Bandai Namco has now shared details on an upcoming update for the beat-em-up on the Switch that will let players experience an “enhanced version” of the game on the newer Switch 2. Which means if you pick up Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on the Switch but decide to play the game on the Switch 2 as well, the update will let you do that without needing to buy the full game again.
Below is a new trailer that details how the update will work on the Switch platform, check it out:
“We will be releasing an update for Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, to allow you to play an enhanced version on Nintendo Switch 2 system,” Bandai Namco states.
“By connecting your Nintendo Switch 2 system to the internet and downloading the update, characters and backgrounds will appear with improved clarity and richer detail.”
It’s a really neat way to simply port your game to the newer console without losing much of your in-game progress, although some save data may not work on the Switch 2, as the publisher writes:
“As a point of caution when applying the update, some save data from when Nintendo Switch™ version of the software was played on Nintendo Switch™ system can be carried over, but battle replay data, edit data created in custom battles, and online battle records cannot be carried over.”
“Conversely, after applying the update on Nintendo Switch™ 2 system, then returning to play Nintendo Switch version of the software on original Nintendo Switch™ system, some data can be carried over, while others cannot.”
However, Bandai also states that after applying the update and getting Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero for the Switch 2, you won’t be able to participate in battle online or offline with users who are playing the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
In other news of Sparking Zero, it’s been reported that the popular action title has now sold around 5.4 million units so far which is highly impressive for a game that came out just over a year ago. And of course, the sales numbers are sure to grow even higher as Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero makes it’s way to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on November 14.
