Football Manager 26 is everything wrong with the industry, and the final point the triple A market wishes to reach when making games. PC gamers are starting to realize that perhaps getting into the series wasn’t worth it in the slightest. However designed the game might have done the worst job possible trying to hide the fact that they always sell the same previous game with very small changes. The reality is that sports games that remain tied to mundane conceptions are not fun, and the only way to make them worth it would be to make something extreme out of them.
Football Manager 26 is slop
Football Manager 26 fumbles the bag so hard that even veterans of the series are calling it out, some are even saying its pretty much the game that broke their addiction to the series. This is good, a ton of these games aren’t really worth playing as they are not optimized and always recycle the same exact framework to be created. Sega should be ashamed of publishing a series like this and its pretty much a stain the reputation of the company, company who always made some amazing titles in the past and occasionally provides some neat stuff nowadays too.
There really is not much to say, people are tired, so review bombings happen because no effort was put into developing the game whatsoever, Steam should have proper safe guards against slop. Based on this, perhaps we will see another one after Football Manager 26, this time made with generative “AI” to cut on costs, but only if the hype lasts till next year. That bubble is going to burst so hard that many game companies will have to reconsider what they are doing and what things they should support. Hopefully, many more companies realize doing scams like this are wrong.
