Livber Smoke and Mirrors is a visual novel for PC, but it does play more in the vein of a choose your own adventure book. All of the art in the game has been crafted by hand and it looks gorgeous, yet the most surprising aspect of the game is how many branching paths it offers, almost every decision you make seems to twist and turn the story. Ironically, this puts to shame many games under the category of “your choices matter” since this is the definitive game where your choices do matter indeed. Every thing you say, every silence you keep, all of that will transform your story and there’s no right or wrong paths.

For those interested in horror, and especially those who want to enjoy some masterfully written story, this is the game for you. All of this is psychological horror, of the true variety that does not rely on jump scares. This game does everything right when it comes to presenting players with horror elements, and the immaculate aesthetics elevate this up to eleven. The horror genre has been defiled by people that don’t understand it, even the Silent Hill 2 Remake includes jump scares that weren’t in the original game.
Livber Smoke and Mirrors is another indie gem made with love, and we can proudly announce that this game, like many others, is free of “AI”.
