Dice of Kalma got an amazing trailer along with a new demo that showcases what pretty much feels like some sort of Balatro with dice. Our objective is to stack multipliers and buffs to ensure we can get an amazing score, our life depends on it since we are trapped in the world of the dead. By playing against death itself, we need to accrue a high score to beat all the blinds in a similar way to how we do it on Balatro, its just that the stakes here are higher. It seems to be popular to make clones of Balatro with different board games, and I’m all in for it.
Dice of Kalma gets a demo
You can try out the demo if you are interested in playing this new game. There’s till no release date as there’s a ton of things to fix and build upon, the art style is reminiscent to what the team behind these games usually do. Vartio is quite the interesting minimalist experience that you should try out, and I’m very sure that when Dice of Kalama releases, the same will apply because it might have some interesting twists to the formula. While the ideas portrayed by this studio seem initially simple, there’s a lot of things to unravel about the setting of these games.
Pepperbox Studios, developers of Vartio and Dice of Kalma are based in Finland, and they have recently attained a way to collaborate with a publishing group called indie.io. While publishers on the industry often act in very shady ways against developers, it seems that the relation between these too is going very well. We can only hope that whatever comes out from the development cycle does justice to what the Dice of Kalma demo show us so far. If you are interested you should wishlist this new game.
