The Chronicles of Overlord is a new game that has a new demo out on PC. Only PC players are able to play this new indie title, and we are blessed yet again with another indie work with tons of love and care put into it. Anyone can try out the demo as long as they have a Steam account, and it seems to work well on Linux based systems because gaming on Linux has improved tremendously after the Valve collaborations. There really is no reason to play this one on Windows since the operating system by Microsoft will hog all your resources instead of giving them to the game.
The Chronicles of Overlord looks exciting
For fans of the strategy genre and table top RPGs, this one is a must to try out because it feels like the older Dungeons and Dragons inspired strategy games for DOS based systems. Specifically the ones that aren’t dungeon crawlers but are based in top down RPG combat, if you are interested in other games that might be like this one but with a more grim plot, check out Skald: Against the Black Priory. Skald is truly and excellent game, and The Chronicles of Overlord is shaping up to be a nice competitor that wants to ensure the indie side of things keep growing.
The future is indie, and while there’s no proper release date for the game yet, it makes sense that it will either come out near the end of the year, or at the beginning of 2026. In case that does not happen it means that the developers are busy trying to ensure the experience is the best and they are polishing things, provided they aren’t doing so now as we speak. Indie developers are hardworking people who wish to show their game development and storytelling skills to others, with The Chronicles of Overlord being no exception of a work of art.
