Valheim is going to get updates “forever“, although the definition is clearly changing for them. PC gamers will experience some slow updates as they have been going lately because the developer does not want to grow big too quickly. This is reasonable because one needs to just take their time when making and growing their projects further. Of course, there is also limits as to how much can grow in a short span of time. Puyo Puyo is an excellent example of a franchise that grew so much that it just went broke after the sequel. Developers that are wary of growing too quick are very smart.
Valheim will get slow updates
To the surprise of no one, this will keep being a fact, but one also needs to understand that the developers behind Valheim are also sorry for revealing that. Of course, 2025 is still not over so there will probably be some huge update being cooked before the year ends. Valheim is a game that always called my attention heavily cause it makes me remember the early days of Minecraft updates and how small and inconsequential they felt in some cases for outsiders. But for players these changes where huge and brought new strategies to gameplay.
Taking it slow has to be one of the most sane ideas to have for developing a game like this, because quickly adding features will end up with some massive feature creep issues. A game can never be everything all at once and in the same place, so you can never expect Valheim to become another Minecraft, or let alone another Roblox, and honestly it should stay that way. Valheim brings to old Minecraft players what Minecraft is unable to bring forward now, that is, the amount of mystery the game oozes is still intact as you play it.
