Fear Effect is a classic PS1 title that has been given a second chance to run in this overcrowded market. PC gamers will finally experience the opportunity to enjoy this cult classic that has marked a generation of gamers from the past. It’s been 25 years since the game released, and despite the aged look that it has, it is one of the first games to use a special cel shading technique that would end up taking the gaming industry by storm. This is a release by Limited Run Games, so if you dislike the company feel free to play it in any other way.
Fear Effect is a classic
This is a cinematic action game, so for those who enjoy some movie like adventures, this might be the game you have been looking for. This is back in the day when Motion FX technology was new, and it was quite an impressive thing to look at, the stylistic choices behind games back then were thanks to the system limits, but from those limits creativity was born compared to what we have today in the market, what we have today is pure profit maximization instead of artistic expression.
Fear Effect looks very good, and it could easily pass as a modern indie title that released some months ago. It is crazy to see the current trend is to go back to the era of PS1 low-poly models, but honestly, things were so much better back in the day when we stood there. Games were so creative and they didn’t try to aim for realism or anything, people made games to have fun and to give fun to others, I really miss those days. Thankfully, these re-releases show us that people still demand for quality games in the medium, and Fear Effect is clearly one made with tons of love.
