It seems visionary videogame creator Hideo Kojima has already laid out the groundwork for Death Stranding 3, but doesn’t want to make it himself. In a recent interview in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia during the Death Stranding 2 World Strand tour, kojima answered the following when asked regarding a follow up title after Death Stranding 2:
“I’m not planning to do that at the moment, because the ending of Death Stranding 2 was my finale of 1 and 2. But I already wrote the concept of DS3, so I have that in data. I hope that someone would create it for me.”
It clearly seems he doesn’t want to make Death Stranding 3 at least not for the foreseeable future, instead he wants another studio to make the game. But that would also be divisive as players who have enjoyed both Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2 may not want another game in the series made by a different studio as even though it might turn out to be a great game in the same vein as it’s predecessors, but without Kojima in charge personally it wouldn’t necessarily have that distinct touch which makes up a large part of these games’ identities. Cause a game isn’t just about the mechanics or the core gameplay but also about the narrative themes which make it unique and memorable.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach got mostly wide acclaim after release, garnering perfect scores from multiple sites like IGN, Push Squire, The Guardian and more. The game is highly praised for it’s sophisticated and cinematic storytelling, much improved stealth and combat mechanics over it’s predecessor which makes the gameplay experience way more satisfying and enjoyable with a whole lot of quality-of-life additions and improvements that turn the game into a more accessible and accomplished experience in every way. If you have a Playstation 5, it’s definitely one of the best titles you can play this year.
