The upcoming Ninja Gaiden 4 will be bringing back one of the finest and most rewarding combat systems ever seen in gaming but it’ll also lend itself effectively to newcomers to the genre who’ve never played a hack-n-slash title before, in ways that will help them learn all the ropes of the combat in a gradual and satisfying way. So if you’re new to character action games, Ninja Gaiden 4 will feature a myriad of gameplay tools that will help you get a grip and get better with it’s complex and challenging combat.
And in a recent interview with IGN, Team Ninja’s Masakazu Hirayama has detailed how they aim to make the combat system of Ninja Gaiden 4 more accessible to newcomers to the genre by including a Hero mode that features several gameplay assists which will help streamline the combat for players.
The beginner-friendly difficulty mode will have Auto Guard, Auto Dodge and more assists that’ll help players familiarize themselves with the combat system as they start and they can also turn those off whenever they feel they are ready to handle the action. This kind of modular and curated difficulty will definitely help Ninja Gaiden 4 appeal to a wide range of gamers.
“So to that end, we’ve prepared not only difficulty options, but other features for those new players. In terms of difficulty settings, there is a mode called Hero Mode. So when you choose Hero Mode, it’ll automatically enable a number of assists. So these assists include Auto Guard, Auto Dodge, and another assist that allow you to perform more complicated actions, moves more easily. And these individual assists, once you select Hero Mode, you’re not stuck with the assist. You can actually go into the menu at any time and toggle them on and off individually.”
“So for newcomers who may feel like this game might be too difficult for them, I want to assure them that the tools are available for them to train themselves and allow them to progress as a player and enjoy that core intensity of the combat while also providing that tools to allow them to progress through the game.”
That’s definitely reassuring for both new players and for the game itself cause in order to be the kind of success that it needs to, Ninja Gaiden 4 should be accessible to a wide range of gamers besides it’s core audience who are already well-versed with the series’ combat.
