One of the biggest franchises in gaming is back this year with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 which was revealed with a new trailer at Gamescom yesterday showcasing a first-ever look at every aspect of the upcoming first person shooter such as it’s campaign, multiplayer, zombies mode along with the game’s release date, open beta and many more.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and takes place in 2035 after the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. The campaign lets you play solo or in co-op with up to four players with global progression which is a first for the franchise.
The campaign of Black Ops 7 offers a fresh experience that’s unlike anything we’ve seen from the series–it’s not set in the real world instead in mental realms conjured by a fear toxin seemingly unleashed by returning series antagonist Raul Menendez. This makes for some really interesting level designs ranging from Inception-styled freeways that stretch up to the skies to many unique layouts that should open up new and exciting possibilities on top of the usual COD flavor of gameplay.
And here’s the official information from Activision on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s unique co-op campaign:
- An unprecedented Campaign dives deeper into the madness, delivering a narrative experience unlike anything ever before in Call of Duty – playable solo or in a squad of up to four players
- Returning fan-favorite characters, including David Mason and Raul Menendez, along with the introduction of new icons like Emma Kagan, CEO of tech giant The Guild, add to the most innovative Black Ops campaign ever
- Take on high-stakes missions across a wide spectrum of environments, from the neon-lit rooftops of Japan to the Mediterranean coast, and even into the deepest corners of the human psyche. Players will also experience Avalon, an expansive city whose secrets ripple across the Campaign
- In the culmination of the story, Treyarch and Raven Software are unleashing Endgame, which opens up the entire world of Avalon for players as they wield personalized abilities, unlock loadouts, and face unexpected challenges, putting everything they’ve mastered throughout the Campaign to the test
- Endgame is a brand-new, replayable experience that breaks the rules of what you thought a Call of Duty Campaign can be
Black Ops 7 also features 16 signature 6v6 Multiplayer maps plus two new large-scale 20v20 maps along with 30 new weapons available on the game’s launch. The series’ Omnimovement system has also been taken to new levels which will open up both unique and creative gameplay dynamics including wall jumps and more sophisticated movements.
Overall, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 looks to introduce a futuristic new spin on the staple gameplay model of the series while also bringing back some of the familiar elements seen in previous entries such as the Survival-based Zombie mode along with vehicle combat as well.
Black Ops 7 will also have an open beta free across all platforms, with players who pre-order or with a subscription to select Game Pass plans granted early access. The beta will run from October 5-8 for all gamers, with Early Access provided to players right from October 2.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to release on November 14 across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Battle.net, Xbox on PC, and Steam.
