In a recent ask-me-anything on Reddit, Ubisoft developers “Simon, Andre & Luc” answered several fan questions about Assassin’s Creed Shadows such as the status of the Assassin-Templar Secret warfare in the game, the Social Stealth system, post launch plans and more. All of the questions were thoughtful along with the answers from the devs which were equally insightful and if you’re a fan of the Assassin’s Creed series of games, you’ll find plenty to love among the replies so check those out.
The developers revealed that the Assassin-Templar war was still in it’s early days when it comes to the events of Assassin’s Creed Shadows but will gain more traction in the near future:
“The Assassins vs. Templars conflict has always been a core pillar of Assassin’s Creed, with Shadows, we wanted to properly set our protagonist in the setting before expanding on the Assassins vs. Templars. Now that it’s done on the main game, we scratched the surface with the Critical Role story drop, and you can expect more deep dives in this conflict in the near future.”
The devs’ answer regarding the status of the modern-day storyline in Assassin’s Creed in Shadows was pretty ambiguous, though.
“We have complex new characters that were introduced in Shadows that we didn’t feel there would have been enough spotlight for Basim as well,” Luc explained. “With Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we are putting in place the first stone of new means to deliver the modern-day storyline with the Animus hub. That is not the end of it, and we are listening to your feedback.”
And even though the series’ staple ‘Social Stealth’ feature was missing from Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the devs revealed that it could return in the future.
“For Shadows, our stealth team chose to put 100 per cent of their energy on the moment-to-moment tactical shinobi experience, which left no space for social stealth,” Simon stated. “That does not mean social stealth is gone from the franchise, though!”
In other news of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the first expansion for the game titled Claws of Awaji is slated to release on September 16 which adds a whole new explorable region into the game called the island of Awaji complete with new gears, abilities, outfits, enemies plus 10 hours of new story content.
