Pregnant with awesome news from HoYoverse, the long-established company is preparing for quite a big update to its famous F2P RPG, Honkai: Star Rail. Slated for August 13 launch, the much-awaited 3.5 update promises to build upon the ongoing Amphoreus storyline that has been captivating players for months now. Mixed with the old and the new, the update aims to engage both new and veteran Trailblazers on their cosmic voyage.
At the heart of all these are two new characters that drop into the game’s banner rotation. The first is Hycilens, a Nihility-path character who deals Physical damage. Her skill set is all about Damage over Time (DoT) and rendering debuffs to enemies in a new and strategic way for teams. The next new character is Cerydra, a Wind-based Harmony character. Cerydra’s special ability allows her to stack buffs on an ally, allowing the ally to attack or use a skill twice in a single turn. This opens a lot in terms of big combo potential and new team setups.
The glory of 3.5 is not limited to new characters; coming along as well are balance-adjusted crowd-favorites Kafka and Silverwolf. A restaurant-management event will be going live. Two more famous events will be returning along with the new quest: “Old Bres & New Friends,” a drinking worth experimenting with, and “Space Station Task Force,” throwing more tasks into the mix. These returning events will enable players to traverse back in time to familiar content and earn rewards.
Aside from just this patch’s content, HoYoverse has hinted at a new endgame mode, Anomaly Arbitration, where players must create three different parties to overcome its challenges. The ongoing Amphoreus storyline may last until 3.7, giving rise to some wonderful storytelling. Also rumored is March 7th and Dan Heng getting new forms on the 3.6 banner, while Firefly would be getting a buff in a future update. In the wake of all these changes, thus far, the 3.5 update trends to be a watershed for Honkai: Star Rail to endure.
