A previously leaked new beta design has actually been put into practice, currently in beta stage for the Steam Store. It’s always so nice when leaks end up becoming true, especially when I’m the one who reports on them. Leakers have been on fire lately, trying to bring the latest of scoops to ensure the gaming world remains as hyped as possible, despite the fact that the industry is rapidly collapsing. Between the fact that we don’t own what we buy, and the fact that games are being censored left and right, it seems that there’s no rest for the most oppressed class in the world, us gamers. We at Infinite Start will discuss this new UI.
New Beta design looks kinda samey
The search panel has been enhanced for major visibility of metrics, primarily a new interesting yet dystopian feature, to see what other people are buying or playing right in the store. This will undoubtedly set a precedent for people just consuming whatever is popular rather than going out of their way to find something that they like. It is very hard to find hidden gems, and now this new update will cause the ordeal to be even greater for those trying to curate their game library of popular titles.
People want to play unique things, have unique experiences, if everyone happened to play the same game, listen to the same music, or think the same, the world would be so boring. The new beta design incentivizes games to just rip out what’s popular, which has been a problem for quite a while now which will only get worse. While the new design looks kinda sleek, it also feels dead like the majority of UI updates that remove any sort of expression to them, while this might be cherry picking, doesn’t the new beta design look kinda plain?
