Semiwork, the team behind the multiplayer co-op survival horror game REPO, have made some revelations about a gigantic upcoming update, hinting at a new influx of content and polish. This massive announcement was followed up in greater depth in a fresh Q&A session, where Semiwork answered 50 questions posed to them by the community, offering more details on the game’s short- and long-term future.
The overall theme of this next patch seems to be a general polishing on the current game world and mechanics. The players can anticipate some remaking of older maps, which will bring them up to speed with the meticulous level of the museum zone of the game. The museum itself will become even tougher with new laser alarms included in it, as well as an upgrade to REPO’s special carts. In addition to these changes, the update will substantially enhance the game’s weaponry with the inclusion of several new firearms. In addition to these adjustments to the world, an entirely new score has been written specifically for the museum to increase the atmospheric sense.
Another addition present in this update that is widely showcased is a public matchmaking and server list, highly requested addition that will increase player access and serve to enhance cohesion among the community. Semiwork also teased upcoming updates, including the addition of more new areas to be introduced following the museum and outdoor area additions for the museum in later updates. Balancing currently existing threats and adding new ones, the update will have rebalances for existing monster types, with completely new monsters, co-op challenges, and challenge rooms to be introduced in later releases. The developer also hinted at some curiosity about adding instruments or noisemakers, and the need for anti-troll features in public lobbies.
REPO went into Steam Early Access on February 26, 2025. It has a maximum of six players with the task of navigating procedurally generated spaces in order to collect physics-heavy objects and deliver them to an extraction point, fighting 19 types of enemies. Having proximity voice chat available in the game also increases tension, with noisy monsters from the players feeding into the survival horror experience. This patch shows that Semiwork is dedicated to fleshing out the REPO experience, hinting at a smoother and more intense experience for the player.
