F.E.A.R Platinum joins the GOG Preservation Program in next month as part of it’s initiative to keep some of the greatest, older games in a playable state for all gamers. You can also buy the entire bundle right now for as much as 90 % discount from it’s original price.

If you look at any list or compilation featuring the greatest First Person Shooters of all time, there’s a good chance that it’ll include Monolith’s First Encounter Assault Recon (F.E.A.R) at the top 3 or maybe even higher. Most old-school gamers who have played F.E.A.R which was released way back in 2005 hails the game for it’s phenomenal gunplay (which can still surpass many modern FPS titles) and extremely realistic and ahead-of-it’s-time squad A.I that makes the player feel like they’re fighting real humans who can adapt, strategize and co-ordinate in genuinely unexpected ways.

Despite being almost two decades old, F.E.A.R still continues to be a Monolith in the entire first person shooter genre in terms of pure gunplay along with it’s phenomenal usage of slow-mo that makes the player feel like a true action hero. And if you haven’t played the game yet, you definitely should as it can not only wow you in every way but it’ll also demonstrate how great gameplay can truly stand the test of time.

F.E.A.R Platinum

And in the wake of it’s developer Monolith Productions’ closure which is sad and disheartening in more ways than one, CD Projekt’s GOG has taken a welcome initiative to preserve this immortal and legendary first person shooter in the form of F.E.A.R Platinum which includes the original F.E.A.R as well as it’s two official expansion packs titled F.E.A.R Extraction Point (which takes the core gameplay and makes it even better in some areas) and F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate.

The purpose for this preservation program from GOG is to “properly recognize Monolith’s contributions to gaming”, which is apt and much needed as timeless titles like F.E.A.R deserves to be preserved and cherished for all generations of gamers and fans alike. GOG also maintains all of it’s games in a completely DRM-free state along with dedicated tech support which is truly generous for all players.

GOG has also stated that other Monolith classics will “join eventually as well”, suggesting more great titles of the yesteryear to be included in it’s Preservation Program which is definitely welcome for anyone who loves videogames, old or new.
