Xbox Game Pass has just reported its biggest revenue quarter ever, according to Microsoft’s latest earnings call. The company announced that Xbox content and services revenue grew by 2%, mainly because of the continued success of Game Pass and a rise in PC subscriptions.

Game Pass Growth Driven by Blockbuster Titles

The last few months have been huge for Xbox Game Pass, with big-name releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle playing a crucial role in its success. Black Ops 6 had the biggest launch of any Call of Duty game so far, dominating sales charts on both Xbox and PlayStation.

However, Indiana Jones attracted over 4 million players since its release in December 2024, further increasing Game Pass engagement. PC Game Pass also experienced a 30% increase in subscribers, marking a significant expansion beyond Xbox consoles. Although Microsoft is shifting its focus towards software and services instead of hardware competition, this surge in PC subscriptions fits well with the company’s wider strategy.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says Q2 2025 fiscal saw "Strong momentum for Xbox Cloud Gaming, with a record 140 million hours streamed this quarter. Game Pass set a new quarterly revenue record, and grew its PC subscriber base by over 30%." pic.twitter.com/8bFsZFRCwj

Xbox Cloud Gaming Reaches New Heights

Microsoft also pointed out the growing impact of Xbox Cloud Gaming (which is part of Game Pass Ultimate). Players streamed a record-breaking 140 million hours in the past quarter, showing the increasing demand for cloud-based gaming. With more Call of Duty titles expected to join the cloud service, Microsoft seems to be betting big on this feature to keep driving growth. However, this growth is not without challenges, because competition in the gaming industry is fierce. Although the cloud service is popular, players have mixed feelings about it, but Microsoft is committed to improving the experience.

Microsoft has made it obvious that Xbox Game Pass is central to its gaming plan and so far, it appears to be working well. With record revenue, increasing PC subscriptions and big franchises coming to the service, (Xbox Game Pass is showing it can be a powerful player in gaming). As Microsoft keeps investing in cloud gaming and partnerships with other companies, all eyes will be on how Game Pass changes in the next few months. However, for the moment, it’s clear that the service is more robust than ever.
