Rumor: Warner Brothers Based Platform Fighter is in Development

Yesterday Juan “HungryBox” DeBiedma leaked a screenshot that strongly suggested the ongoing rumors of a Warner Brothers based platform fighter were real. These included some previously rumored characters, along with some new ones, making it an interesting image.

Before speculation got out of hand, the image was Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) striked, all but proving this exists in some capacity. Fortunately, several people were able to save the image, which you can find below.

If you haven’t been following the story thus far, the earliest mention of a Warner Brothers multiverse game was by reddit user hugeleakeractually earlier this week. They made a post indicating Warner Brothers is developing a Super Smash Bros.-esque arena fighter based off their various intellectual proprieties. The leak mentioned NetherRealm Studios, known for recent Mortal Kombat and Injustice games, was working on a fighter that included Johnny Bravo, Batman, Gandalf and Shaggy Rogers that supposedly came to be following memes related to Shaggy Rogers appearing in Mortal Kombat.

The post was met with some apprehension, a logical outcome given the range and variety of characters mentioned, though it contained some interesting evidence, including a trademark that suggests it exists in some capacity.

Following that, DeBiedma jumped confirming they heard similar things, including cross-console play and it will be fully voice acted.

Shortly after, Jeff Grubb corroborated several aspects in an article for Venture Beat. According to their information, NetherRealm Studios was not the developer, though no developer was given. The article later mentions it seems to have a “tight budget,” it might be free-to-play and DLC characters like someone from Space Jam, including LeBron James, might appear down the line.

At this point Multiversus is still a rumor, though it seems safe to say it’s in testing. Unfortunately, no information on platforms, release dates or even an explanation of what the icons to the top right in the roster image mean but it will be exciting to see how this one ends.
