Earlier this week the Battle.net page for Overwatch 2 was briefly updated to include some additional information about the upcoming first season and its unlockables. While this update did not last long, some users, like Resetera user Solidsnakejej, was able to save the additional text which is as follows.
The home base of your new gameplay experience!
Resetera repost of the Battle.net listing
The pack includes the following Overwatch® 2 in-game content: Season 1 Premium Battle Pass, 7 Legendary skins (including 2 all-new Space Raider skins), 5 Epic skins and 2000 Overwatch Coins.
With the Season One Premium Battle Pass you can unlock over 80 tiers of rewards including Mythic Cyber Demon Genji, Legendary Hinotori Kiriko, and more. In addition, as a Season One Premium Battle Pass owner you will automatically receive access to Overwatch’s latest hero Kiriko!
Includes instant access to Overwatch Legendary Edition.
The update includes some notable new details, such as the number of skins included, the expected number of tiers, confirmation Mythic rarity skins will appear there and some information on the next Hero, Kiriko.
While Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play, which naturally is a concern for some, the idea of tying the latest heroes to the battle pass is something a lot of players are against. This had the community in an uproar, which eventually caught the attention of Overwatch Commercial Leader & VP at Blizzard, Jon Spector, who tweeted the following:
While we’re still in the dark what the exact specifics of this will include, YouTuber Kuriboh cervantes posted an unfinished animated short they “found” of the unannounced character, Kiriko.
The nearly 10 minute long short absolutely has the charm we’ve seen in similar efforts from Blizzard. These include her family life, relationship with those around her, like with a deaf girl and an absolutely gorgeous battle sequence. Unfortunately, for some, the dialogue is in Spanish without subtitles, so keep that in mind if you want to avoid checking out something you can’t understand.
Since posting this video it was unsurprisingly taken down. Some other users were able to save it before this happened and uploaded their own versions of it online. Reddit user jonnyjonnystoppapa has since started updating his post, which contains several mirrors and will likely have the latest mirrors as Blizzard attempts to take down these leaks.
No word on whether other aspects of Kiriko will be leaked, but I wouldn’t be surprised if these two forces result in an update sometime next week. Regardless, we have confirmation we will have additional information and clarification on the battle pass ahead of Overwatch 2’s Oct. 4 Early Access release.
[Update: Recently found out it was confirmed the 4Chan information was fake and based off an earlier leak of her name and, as a result, was removed. Added information about the unlock method for Kiriko, along with a few extra links. We’re sorry for any confusion this might have caused.]
