One of the biggest titles released this month which has already surpassed more than one million sold copies within a week, developer Rebel Wolves’ The Blood of Dawnwalker is confirmed to receive a New Game Plus mode at some point in the future, although the exact time window for it’s release is currently unknown. Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has recently stated during a stream (via GamesRadar), that a New Game Plus mode will arrive for The Blood of Dawnwaker, but refused to speak on when you’ll be able to get it.
“New Game Plus? Yes, it’s coming,” while adding, “but I won’t tell you when.”
While New Game Plus for most titles end up being quite a bit more enjoyable and satisfying compared to the standard gameplay modes, however, it has the potential to be even more refreshing in The Blood of Dawnwalker cause of the unique time structure of the game. In a nutshell, you have 30 in-game days to complete the main quest in the game, for saving the family of the protagonist. Time passes when you complete quests or even upgrade your skills, which means you’ve got to be careful with your approaches in many ways, as you can’t just keep playing like you do in most other RPGs.
And it’d be definitely interesting to see just how the devs implement New Game Plus within the limited framework of time in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and how it changes the flow of the gameplay. Normally, the New Game Plus tends to provide a more power-fantasy type of experience and it remains to be seen whether it’ll feel the same way for the game, when it comes out.
In other news of The Blood of Dawnwalker, it’s also been recently revealed that the fantasy-action-RPG was made with a modest $40 million which means it veers more into the category of AA titles than blockbuster AAAs, thereby making it’s commercial success all the more impressive.
