Gameloft has detailed its next free update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, titled “Season of Scares,” launching on September 23 to kick off the game’s Halloween celebrations. The highlight of the release is the arrival of Oogie Boogie, the iconic villain from The Nightmare Before Christmas, alongside Zero as a new companion character.
Unlocking the new villain comes with a specific requirement: players must initiate Oogie Boogie’s first quest line before November 4 to secure him for their Valley. Those who miss the initial window will have to wait until Halloween 2027 for another chance to unlock the character. However, as long as players start the first quest prior to the November deadline, they can complete the remaining six weeks of challenges at their own pace.
The update serves as part of Gameloft’s broader content pipeline for the cozy life-simulator, which continues to mix free seasonal additions with paid expansions. Beyond the Halloween content, the studio confirmed that Lilo will arrive in a free December update, finally reuniting her with Stitch. Meanwhile, the game’s next major paid expansion, The Keepsake Sea, is scheduled to arrive in November, bringing Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean alongside ocean exploration features.
Gameloft plans to share additional details regarding upcoming expansions and long-term content plans during a dedicated showcase scheduled for October 21. For now, players can prepare for six weeks of Halloween-themed challenges starting next week to ensure Oogie Boogie joins Jack Skellington and Sally in their digital villages.
