Sony ditched Kojima, and it seems that thanks to this we will be getting Physint on PC. We don’t even know what the project entails yet but if you know anything about Kojima, then he is the original movie game guy. Metal Gear as a series started because he wanted to be a film maker, sadly he couldn’t be a film maker but he ended up making the most culturally important video games of all time. All of the things he has done, well, most of them, have been amazing hits that influenced the medium and are still referenced even today.
Sony ditched Kojima in weird move
Sony recently has been shifting towards movie games, which makes things way more weird because there is no logic behind them just doing what they did. Sony ditching Kojima is a very odd move because they had the right person to do amazing things with huge budget. And now they have nobody useful and still waste huge budget in things people didn’t ask for. It truly is a baffling decision that feels made by “AI”, and considering the current corporate landscape it pretty much feels like that might have been the case. Things are that bad.
I just wish that the scenario where Sony ditched Kojima never happened, because him and the PlayStation brand always had a very close tie since the inception of the system. Metal Gear Solid was a great hit of a game and people loved every iteration, that series was always on Sony’s consoles. Whatever was the decision, it doesn’t really make much sense because loads of budget are gonna be wasted anyways. Perhaps they will just start chasing live service games again, and I hope this time they just fail because people are tired of seeing games like that pop up.
