Insomniac’s Venom Game Reportedly Still in Development

Back in April this year, it was reported that according to Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter from Insomniac’s Spider-Man titles, the standalone Venom game which was supposedly at works by the developer got canceled after the passing of Tony Todd in 2024 who was the voice actor for Venom. But back then, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg had commented on the Reset Era forums and said that the claim isn’t true at all, and in that same forum, a certified dev also affirmed that the Venom game from Insomniac is definitely on the cards.

And now, reliable leaker NateTheHate has commented on his X/Twitter account and said that “Venom is very much still in development upon last check. As to when it’ll be announced, I don’t know.”

Of course, as Insomniac is currently busy with their upcoming Wolverine, it’s possible that we’ll get some official information on the reported Venom game sometimes in next year.

One of the most memorable and fun section in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was the brief part where you get to play as Venom and wreak all kinds of havoc with a sense of pure power fantasy that’s pretty much unmatched by everything else in the game. That section had also led to the possibility of a standalone Venom game from the developer, featuring a completely different character and cast which would be incredibly promising and enjoyable for a spin-off title, in more ways than one.

Marvel’s Wolverine comes out in two different editions–the Standard version of the game will cost you $69.99 while the Digital Deluxe version sports a price tag of $79.99. There’s no mention of a collector’s edition that’s geared towards enthusiasts so if you were hoping for physical collectibles like statues and maybe action figures, looks like there won’t be any of that.

Wolverine is slashing his way into the Playstation 5 on September 15, 2026.
