Mod developer Rixus has confirmed that Nuevo Paraiso – The Forgotten Frontier, a massive fan-made expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2, will launch for PC via Nexus Mods on September 16. The ambitious project brings the original game’s iconic Mexican region into Rockstar Games’ 2018 prequel, addressing one of the community’s longest-standing requests following the developer’s decision to forego traditional single-player story DLC.
Rather than offering a simple map import, The Forgotten Frontier introduces a full suite of interactive features to integrate Mexico into the broader open world. Players can expect new settlements, gang hideouts, bounty-hunting contracts, minigames, treasure hunts, and dynamic random encounters designed to match the gameplay structure of the official releases.
The project highlights Sadie Adler as its recommended protagonist, offering a narrative bridge for her travels toward South America mentioned during the campaign’s epilogue. Players retain the option to play as Arthur Morgan or John Marston, though the mod’s story focus aims to build on Sadie’s journey without disrupting established franchise lore. The overall thematic design centers on the social tension and political climate in Mexico leading up to the 1911 Revolution.
Developed by mod author Roxis724 (Rixus), the project builds on years of foundational map work to deliver a cohesive expansion. The final release will be available as a free download exclusively for PC users.
