The Blood of Dawnwalker Won’t Feature a 60 FPS Performance Mode on the Consoles

It seems the only way you can run the upcoming The Blood of Dawnwalker at a silky-smooth 60 FPS experience is by playing it on a PC, with adequate hardware configuration of course, as a new gameplay video has confirmed that there won’t be any 60 FPS performance mode for developer Rebel Wolves’ upcoming single-player open-world dark fantasy vampire action RPG on the PS5, PS5 Pro and the Xbox Series X|S consoles.

The brand-new gameplay video posted on the The Blood of Dawnwalker’s official Youtube channel titled ‘Console Footage’ confirms there will be no 60 FPS mode on any consoles and instead, both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X will have two modes named Quality and Balanced where Quality will provide Dynamic 4K at 30 FPS and Balanced will deliver Dynamic 4K at a slightly higher 40 FPS, however, the Series S details have not been revealed.

Interestingly, the image quality-to-performance ratio remains unchanged even for the more powerful PS5 Pro which will offer the same graphical settings and framerates with the only new feature being “enhanced visual quality” for both of the modes. That means the game will look a little bit better on the PS5 Pro while delivering the same exact FPS on all settings, which is certainly odd as the console can easily render a steady 60 FPS for the game.

And obviously, players are currently unhappy regarding the omission of the higher performance mode as it’s practically a staple feature for all other console titles in the current era of gaming. In fact, many players have expressed preference for a slightly lower resolution as a trade-off for higher frame rates which result in a more smoother and enjoyable experience in most cases.

The result is also obvious from the gameplay video where the combat section feels less-than-ideal with 40 FPS and may even seem a bit choppy at some instances. And even though the visuals are pretty crisp and detailed, they do not feel worthwhile for the exchange for higher framerates.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by some of the former devs behind The Witcher series and is scheduled to come out on September 3rd this year for both PC and consoles.
