It’s been confirmed several days ago that an extended look at the upcoming GTA 6 will be showcased on Netflix this August 27 and then will be made available for everyone to see on Youtube later that day. So if you have a subscription to Netflix, you’ll be able to get a first look at some of the features of the most anticipated videogame of all time when it premiers on the platform at 3 PM ET on August 27, and will be available on Rockstar’s own Youtube channel at 9 PM ET on the same day.
However, it’s currently up in the air as to what will be shown at the extended look for GTA 6–will it be another Trailer, a detailed gamplay video or something else entirely. And in a recent interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said that whatever it may turn out to be, everyone is going to watch it anyway.
“I think Rockstar felt that a Netflix release would be a great way to show off the extended trailer,” Zelnick said, while adding: “Six hours later it will be available on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and I think ultimately on many other outlets,” he continued. “And I think this is an example of Rockstar trying new things and marketing the title and I hope there’s much more to come.”
And although he didn’t provide any details or insights on the upcoming grand reveal of GTA 6 on Netflix, he suggests that it’ll be much more than the typical gameplay reveal that we see in case of other titles.
“Well, as you’d imagine, I’m only going to say great things about Netflix,” he said. “If you’re not a Netflix subscriber, you definitely should be one. And as for the trailer itself, it’s coming soon enough that I’ll let you arrive at your own conclusion. I’m sure you’re going to watch it because everyone is.”
However, a part of the players who are currently looking forward to the game’s release, aren’t particularly enthusiastic with Rockstar’s decision to release the next official look at GTA 6 through Netflix, which definitely seems as a move to ask the fans to fork over some cash for a subscription on the platform as it’ll no doubt motivate many players to actually sign up to Netflix just to get the first look on the open world behemoth.
There’s also concerns for the servers of Netflix crashing under the enormous pressure of demand for the new look at the game, which has happened multiple times before.
GTA 6 is slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
