Marvel Tokon is facing some severe review bombing on PC right now, and this time it is justified. Considering the game locks you out if you don’t have a PSN Account, on a PC by the way, along with the fact that online works in an atrocious way, it might be one of the worst fighting game releases on PC. This feels as if Sony decided to sabotage another platform to bring people into theirs, but the only thing they will accomplish is farm more hatred from people and create less customers if they are willing to do something so evil.
Marvel Tokon has issues
The game in console is great, but even in console you have to disable cross play to avoid PC players who might bring some latency issues into your lobby. Dropped inputs in a fighting game makes a life or death difference, so it is insane they didn’t check to ensure all of that was okay and working. The PSN requirement on PC should be eliminated, nobody should be forced to make one, especially because not every country has access to it in the first place. The only thing this accomplishes is causing more sales to be lost sales and new pirates to arise.
Marvel Tokon really has that Marvel vs Capcom vibe to it, but its entirely comprised of popular Marvel heroes that will be familiar to anyone in the medium. Created by the people involved with the Guilty Gear series, this one is a very solid fighting game that needs more time in the oven, at least on its PC iteration. Patches should be raining right now cause there is a ton of things to fix so PC players don’t feel like second class citizens. Alas, Sony might prevent this from happening with Marvel Tokon.
