It’s been confirmed yesterday that an extended look at the upcoming GTA 6 will be showcased on Netflix this August 27 and then will be made available for everyone to see on Youtube later that day. So if you have a subscription to Netflix, you’ll be able to get a first look at some of the features of the most anticipated videogame of all time when it premiers on the platform at 3 PM ET on August 27, and will be available on Rockstar’s own Youtube channel at 9 PM ET on the same day.
However, a part of the players who are currently looking forward to the game’s release, aren’t particularly enthusiastic with Rockstar’s decision to release the next official look at GTA 6 through Netflix, which definitely seems as a move to ask the fans to fork over some cash for a subscription on the platform as it’ll no doubt motivate many players to actually sign up to Netflix just to get the first look on the open world behemoth. And as you can guess, many players are currently unhappy and are expressing their disappointments on social media as one fan on Twitter/X, have said:
“This is unbelievably scummy.
Everyone is excited for the extended look of GTA 6 but it’s premiering on Netflix first which will influence people to get a subscription. This needs to be called out because if any other studio such as Bethesda did this they would be crucified.”
“Hiding the first potential gameplay reveal behind a subscription, even if cheap and temporary, is peak Rockstar arrogance,” stated another player.
There’s also concerns for the servers of Netflix crashing under the enormous pressure of demand for the new look at the game, which has happened multiple times before.
However, publisher Take-Two has officially stated the following on the upcoming extended look for GTA 6 on Netflix:
“With Rockstar Games’ recent announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look coming on August 27th, we believe that consumers’ passion and anticipation for the next evolution of this iconic series will grow further leading up to the title’s November 19th release,” Take-Two said.
