Xbox might be leaving Steam, which is a very crazy thing considering that the company gutted itself over as a sort of strategy plan. I don’t really know what they are planning, but I’m very sure that things won’t really work out and I will be surprised if it does. All of this seems to happen because Microsoft lost big on “AI” and they wanna recoup all the billions lost in supposed “Other Spending” as some documents coming from the big company listed some struggle in that area. It was curious that during the drafts that was the “AI” expenditure, but suddenly it changed to something more neutral for no reason at all.
Xbox might die
Leaving Steam in this day and age is a crazy deal considering that everyone already depends on Steam, unless they have some sort of exclusivity plan in the future. I don’t see this being of help, aside from people who are really hating on Xbox right now since this would help the company die quicker, and I’m genuinely baffled at the fact that they are planning to do a shift like this amidst all the issues. They have cut a ton of workforce recently, and it is insane how much damage they caused.
If it were for me, I wouldn’t mind to see the company collapse as a consequence to the actions taken, especially if it ends up hurting the wallets of those who ended up deciding that poor workers fell on the wrong side of a spreadsheet. There needs to be a way to hold them accountable, and the best way to do it is to just stop buying things altogether, let the company collapse for all it matters. PC itself is already a pretty good platform, no need to rely on Xbox for anything.
