BeamNG just got some amazing upgrades today in 2026

BeamNG

BeamNG just got slightly bigger but much better, this new update has vastly improved the graphics and it made things run much smoother too. Not to mention that there is also a new vehicle added into the game that will surprise people who boot into it, I won’t be spoiling what that is however, as I will focus on the graphical upgrades. For people who wanna experience realism, there is a ton of things and little options that have been added that improve the experience. From the addition of DX12 (maybe the option to still run in DX11 remains), the game will be much smoother and also look better.

Along with these changes, HDR support has been added, and the UI has been modified to be way more intuitive. Upgrading to DX12 feels like a no brainer nowadays, provided you allow people to go back to older versions of the framework if things don’t work right. I know some games in Linux don’t handle DX12 that way, but thankfully you can always fallback into the older version with a simple command in the properties tab that accompanies each Steam game. If you have a beefy PC, now its the time to test it out.

BeamNG is a driving sim that many people regard as precise, it even has VR support if you are into that, and the physics seem to be top notch according to the people who are enthusiasts of the car world. Of course, since its software there is a ton of limitations, nothing can be recreated 1:1 with reality on a simulation of this scale, let alone done with a small budget. I believe that someday we might end up seeing software that recreates real driving to a point it becomes indistinguishable. Alas, we are far from reaching that due to other industry priorities.
