Thick as Thieves is pretty much dead on arrival, and it is a very sad thing to see, but that does not mean the game will die, it will just stop getting content. Considering the type of game it is and the pricing, this game is damn good for what it offers, sadly we won’t be seeing more new things done with it. PC gamers unfortunately are quite enraged at the news, and they don’t seem to understand that the game isn’t gonna be deleted, it will remain online even. Alas, asking for the average gamer to read nowadays is an undertaking.
Thick as Thieves lives forever
Despite the lack of content, the game will keep living, and for $5 dollars that means people will keep being able to play it even if the company does not support it anymore. The magic of P2P or for not educated fellows, Peer to Peer Communication, is the fact that this protocol has existed for decades in gaming, letting online games from as early as the 90s still live today. Implementing something like this is quite trivial, and the fact that the mega companies like Sony or Ubisoft don’t wanna do this is insane.
If a small studio like the people behind Thick As Thieves is managing, then it makes no sense that companies that hold an amount of wealth enough to buy some countries can’t. It is crazy the world that we live in, uneducated PC gamers bashing on a small game instead of bashing on the big ones, the hypocrisy never ends. It is unfortunate that this happened, but it seems that the lack of planning coming from the team eventually got to them, trying to listen to the community while making Thick as Thieves ended up being the worst thing they could do.
