Unknown Worlds Entertainment has deployed its largest update yet for Subnautica 2, introducing major gameplay tweaks and addressing community backlash regarding its End-User License Agreement just ten days after launching into early access. The patch, which rolled out to PC users on May 22, delivers a mix of structural bug fixes, resource rebalancing, and a significant step back from restrictive legal policies imposed by publisher Krafton.
The update targets early and late-game pacing by increasing the spawn rates of essential materials. Players will now find additional Silver resource locations within the opening environments, while the late-game zones have been populated with more Troilite nodes to smooth out the survival crafting loop. Behavioral adjustments have also been applied to local fauna; Hammerheads will no longer relentlessly pursue the player’s Tadpole submersible due to its lights, preventing predators from crowding around player-built bases.
Technical stability serves as the core of the patch notes, addressing multiple progress-breaking bugs tied to the newly introduced Tadpole vehicle. Unknown Worlds has resolved an issue that randomly teleported players back to their bases while exploring, alongside an infinite-oxygen exploit that triggered if a player died of hunger or thirst while piloting the craft. The update further stabilizes the cooperative experience by eliminating specific crash triggers associated with multiplayer disconnections and late-game asset rendering, alongside optimization passes for Epic graphical settings.
Beyond technical refinements, the developer has thoroughly overhauled the game’s controversial Terms of Service and Privacy Policy following immediate fan pushback. The revised EULA completely removes a clause that forbade players from damaging the reputation of Krafton—a sweeping restriction that critics argued could legally penalize public criticism, parodies, or negative reviews. Additionally, creators are no longer mandated to place explicit disclaimers on gameplay videos stating that the publisher does not endorse their content. Due to these legal changes, players will be prompted to re-accept the agreement upon booting the game.
