Valve pretty much controls the PC gaming market in many ways, however the offers are always supreme and they do reign for a reason. At the same time it is obvious they are involved with a gambling operation, one that they want to keep buried despite all Counter Strike players know what it is. Skin gambling has been ruining live service games since it was invented and used, and micro transactions are pretty much keeping that whole side of the medium afloat despite the fact people are starting to get tired. Valve is yet another company that needs to be inspected by law agencies.

They might give the best prices, they might also have the best game library when it comes to variety, but we also have to consider that they still didn’t ban any sort of Gen “AI” slop out of existence aside from some cases. Leaving that topic aside, it has been known for years that Valve pretty much controls an illicit secondary market of skins that even has children involved, it has been publicized in eSports shirts, and even during events. They have said time and time again that they do attempt to crack down on this, but nothing ever happens.
It makes people suspicious that maybe they are the ones involved with all of those illicit sites that basically bring people into the game solely for the sake of gambling virtual game items away. These items shouldn’t have a price tag on it, as it facilitates the ability to do illicit transactions in a similar way that Crypto has mostly supported cyber criminals since its inception. There should be a more robust legal framework that regulates what can happen with games, however all of that is being used to censor free speech and harm small communities, instead of stopping the elites who harm the medium.
