After the highly acclaimed Uncharted and The Last of Us series of games, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is developer Naughty Dog’s next huge AAA project which will also allow players to explore a whole new sci-fi universe. And while there’s no official release window for the title yet, but according to Kumail Nanjiani who plays a character called Colin Graves in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the game could come out in the next few years, which may be 2028 in all likelihood.
On a podcast interview that took place last year (and has resurfaced recently on social media), Kumail Nanjiani, who played Kingo in the MCU film ‘Eternals’, had revealed the possible timing for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as he stated: “I did do another one that’s going to come out in a couple of years, a Naughty Dog one that’s going to be really, really good.”
The actor also said that he’s ‘always playing games’, while also admitting that acting in videogame roles isn’t really for him in any way. Check out the full interview clip here.
In the upcoming Intergalactic, Nanjiani plays a character named Colin Graves who’s also part of The Five Aces, a criminal faction in the game that also includes the main protagonist.
Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann had said last year that Intergalactic will feature the “deepest gameplay” the studio has ever done which makes the upcoming title incredibly ambitious in the best possible way. But since only a sparse amount of release materials are available as of yet, there’s almost nothing to judge Druckmann’s statements on the game right now, however they do indicate that the combat mechanics of Intergalactic will probably have a lot of depth and versatility which would be really great.
Intergalactic has been in development for over four years and features a star studded cast of Tati Gabrielle from the Uncharted movie as protagonist Jordan A. Mun, and Kumail Nanjiani of Marvel’s Eternals as another in-game character called Colin Graves. The game is not expected to release till 2027 at the earliest.
