One of the aspects of the original Assassin’s Creed Black Flag that would feel too out of place in the post-Origins mold of the franchise is it’s batch of tailing missions which felt really boring and lengthy back in the 2013 release. But according to the leaked presentation of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced (as reported by Insider Gaming), the tailing missions of the original have received a significant overhaul which will now make them feel more immersive, reactive and possibly a bit non-linear too.
As stated by the returning Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag:
“Tailing and eavesdropping missions have also been revamped. In the original game, getting discovered meant instant desynchronization. Yes, this was a pretty big pinpoint we remember. Now, the action continues, your objectives remain, but your target will react, and you must adapt accordingly.”
And as known from the leaked presentation of the game, there’s no desyncronization even if you get caught evasdropping and stalking your target in the upcoming remake, instead you’ll enter a short battle with the enemies which can be over pretty quickly too so you can go back into trailing again. This seems to be a far more forgiving and intuitive experience which is welcome and shows how much care has been put into the upcoming remake of the classic 2013 title.
In other news of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Matt Ryan is confirmed to be back as the voice actor for protagonist Edward Kenway who was also the host and main narrator for the recent Ubisoft presentation of the game.
The Black Flag Remake is also reported to cut out the modern day segments which were present in the original game and instead focus on the internal struggles of protagonist Edward Kenway in ways that we haven’t seen before, which could be a bit divisive for players of the original title.
