The upcoming Gears of War: E-Day which is supposed to be the most ambitious title in the series, hasn’t really seen a lot of promotional material so far, but all of that is going to change with the Gears of War: E-Day Direct presentation that’s scheduled on June 7 which will feature a sumptuous amount of time allotted for the game, as confirmed by Xbox Chief Content Officer Matt Booty. According to the Xbox executive, the runtime of the Gears of War: E-Day presentation will be a total of 30 minutes which is more than sufficient for showcasing tons of new gameplay for the hotly anticipated third person shooter.
“I’ll say that we’ve got the Gears Direct coming, and after seeing that, we’ve probably got like a full 30 minutes, which is really great. And I don’t know. I just love everybody in that studio, the work they’re doing. I’m excited about the game, and we’re going to have a fantastic, full 30 minutes of stuff to see.”
So if you, like many Gears fan out there, were starving for some fresh new content in the iconic series, the upcoming Direct presentation event will definitely fill you up completely so make sure to tune in.
The new Xbox CCO also reflected on being promoted to his new role following Phil Spencer’s retirement: “I think it brings, again, a validation that says that one, Xbox takes these studios seriously, that Microsoft takes it seriously, and that content, things we build; all our great games [are] important, so that’s really what it’s about. For me, my job stays the same.”
Gears of War: E-Day was first announced at the Xbox showcase in 2024 and is set to be a prequel to the original trilogy where fans will get to play much younger versions of the series’ protagonists such as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. The original actors are also confirmed to reprise their roles in the upcoming game.
