A recent leak has surfaced and confirms that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake is going to have a slew of new contents that weren’t part of the original release back in 2013. And while this isn’t entirely new in terms of new info on the modernized version of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag that’s likely to be announced on April 16th, it just makes it official that Black Flag Resynced is much more than just a remaster with prettier visuals which is exactly what players would like.
First Spotted by PedroJosLagesM1 (via TheRealZephryss) on X/ Twitter, the official rating for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake has emerged on the IGRSDB and sports a similar 18+ rating which was also present earlier in the upcoming title’s PEGI rating. But besides that, there’s also some new information which provides some insight on what you can expect from the remake:
“This title breathes new life into a fan favourite while remaining carefully faithful to the spirit of the original. It follows the story of the charismatic pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway as he adventures through the 18th-century Caribbean, with parkour in cities and battles at sea, in search of fortune and glory. Modernized in 2026, the new game includes a cast of new characters and stories.”
This pretty much confirms that the Remake will include bonus story contents to the Edward Kenway sections such as additional story missions focused on pirate Mary Read which didn’t make it to the original Black Flag in 2013.
It was known earlier that the upcoming title will also enable players to make in-game purchases possibly in the form of DLCs which indicates the original game’s Freedom Cry campaign may also be part of the remake offering.
The upcoming Remake will also reportedly contain a significantly overhauled combat system with an emphasize on RPG mechanics and gears that lean heavily into the more modern entries of the series like the post-Assassin’s Creed Origins batch of titles. However, the Black Flag Remake is also reported to cut out the modern day segments which were present in the original game, a move that’s sure to upset many players as those missions had a significant impact on the overarching narrative of the franchise and connected the past events with the present day happenings.
