Wuchang Fallen Feathers has been a game by Chinese developers that was rife with controversy. Recently, the team behind this game has disbanded after some bad decisions made by the director in charge of creating the game. Apparently, they wanted to outsource the work of future games to other smaller studios in other places, which would be problematic because outsourcing often ends in terrible things when it goes unchecked. China needs to appreciate the work that their people are putting in the medium instead of trying to outsource it to foreign forces. This is how you end up burning quality and know-how away, by giving it to others.
Wuchang Fallen Feathers team is out
This comes as sad news from fans of the game that were expecting more things from them, unfortunately all good things have to end and while Wuchang Fallen Feathers was rife with controversy, it still was rather decent. It all started when they failed to respect a popular Chinese deity, even if it was just in a game, and then it all ended with troubles in optimization and many other issues too. It was painful to see the fall down of a game many loved, and things only got worse it seems.
But now, the saga has ended, the team that made the game has disbanded and the only thing that will remain is this last stain in their legacy. I feel like it was a good game despite the issues, and it had big potential to pretty much become the next Black Myth Wukong. If only things have gone in a better direction, I feel like Wuchang Fallen Feathers would have marked an era of Chinese gaming dominance, however this is not the case. Still, I feel like China can put out some good indie games, provided they stick to strict regulations.
