Star Wars Eclipse might never come out, at least from what I feel myself, claims seem to confirm that development has slowed down to a crawl and this does not bode well for a game that is meant to be huge. Being announced 5 years in the past is quite crazy considering they would already have a finished game by now, but it seems that more features are being added on top of what already exists. Maybe perfectionism took hold of the studio, or perhaps they are experimenting some sort of difficulties with development itself. Game making is quite tough after all.
Star Wars Eclipse still lives
Star Wars Eclipse just has a ton of gamers waiting, both people experienced with the franchise, and people who aren’t experienced at all. There’s tons of fans engaged with the series, and while Star Wars still dwarfs compared to Pokemon in the consumer market, the following still remains loyal. Unfortunately, something tells me that Star Wars Eclipse might end up being cancelled, considering it has been in development for at the very least 5 years already without a sign of moving properly. When your games are huge and you dump millions into them, this tends to happen.
This is why people should downscale their projects and make things more realistic timeline wise, because nobody will be waiting a decade for something like this. People also barely have time to experience everything these massive games have to offer, yet the big players in the industry keep insisting on trying to push for these huge games that in the end feel rather empty and soulless, devoid of personality even. This is a Star Wars game however, so maybe if it comes out it will make me eat my own words. Hopefully fans of Star Wars Eclipse can enjoy this game someday.
