Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is quickly shaping up to be one of the surefire hits of this year and a hot favorite for anyone who loves open world action RPGs. Although the presence of AI generated artwork had a negative effect on the player base when it was discovered more than a week ago as AI usage is still an incredibly divisive aspect of videogame development for most players, at least for now. But it’s recently revealed that the newest patch for Crimson Desert has completely removed some of those generative AI arts which was spotted by the players.

As developer Pearl Abyss has stated in the latest patch notes, the new update replaces “select 2D visual assets to better align with the game’s art direction.”

Previously, Pearl Abyss had confirmed that the AI generated arts were not supposed to be in the final release and acknowledged that they should have disclosed the presence of AI in Crimson Desert prior to it’s launch.

And as showed by Gamespot, the original image of a horse with too many limbs is now replaced with an entirely new piece of artwork which doesn’t look like it’s made with AI, at all. This will definitely clear the game from any AI related controversy that it had conjured earlier which is something that usually has a pretty negative effect on any game. So if you were previously disappointed with Crimson Desert cause of it’s use of AI, you’ll love the game after the latest patch.

The newest patch also came with a plethora of fundamental improvements and meaningful changes that have resulted the game reaching a peak player count of 276,261 players this Sunday.

Crimson Desert is quickly headed for a total of 5 million sales units which is fitting, considering the ambitious nature of the title and how much it took to develop (Pearl Abyss has spent around 7 years and approx. $133 million for the making of Crimson Desert).
